Can Anyone Recommend A Good Internet Security Software That Doesn’t Require A Restart When It Updates?

By antivirus software Posted in: McaFee

I have McAfee Internet Security Suite. It’s constantly updating itself, which is great. What isn’t great is that it keeps popping windows up telling me it needs to restart the computer for the update to take effect. This goes on and on – every few minutes. I can’t stand it anymore. I can’t find anything about scheduling restarts for a set time each day in the software or on the website. I want a new Security software so I don’t have to either restart every few minutes (it seems) or have to keep putting up with those obnoxious pop-up boxes prompting (nagging) me. Appreciate any recommendations.

McAfee is what we call “sh*t-tier” in the IT community. It is literally one of the worst antiviruses you can use.
Avast! and MSE are both free, and pretty decent. Kaspersky, NOD32, and even Norton are pretty good as far as paid ones go.

    Avast
the free version of it is amazing I use it all the time on any computer
you can customize it they way you want it to work and it doesn’t restart when it updates

I have norton internet security 2010 and updates just install without restart. It is also much faster at scans and has a better firewall.
You pointed out one of the reasons why I don’t like McAfee
