Do I Need Malwarebytes?

I’ve Avast Internet Security. Do I need Malwarebytes Antimalware for better protection?

I prefer Sophos, but you have to pay for it.
You should have something. You don’t have to have it, but it is good to have. It will help remove most things if you ever need it. Chances are that if you have a Windows computer that is on the internet you will need to remove some malware.
Malware or Adaware are good places to start.

The free edition of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware does not include real-time protection. This means that it will not detect viruses or spyware, until you manually perform a full scan.
Malwarebytes is however renowned to have one of the best (on-demand) virusscanners out there. Avast Internet Security should be more than enough to stop most viruses. If you don’t trust it, scan your computer from time to time with another virus scanner such as Malwarebytes.
However, if you use just Avast! and don’t visit strange websites, you should be okay.
Combining Malwarebytes PRO (which does have a real-time scanner) with Avast! sounds like a good idea but could they end up interfering with each-other. It is probably better to use just one good real-time antivirus solution, and perform a manual scan with a bunch of others from time to time.

Yes but Malwarebytes is not going to protect you against spyware if it’s just the free version. Its free version is only an on-demand scanner and cleaner. You will only get to know about an infection after the fact that your computer is already infected. If you want real-time protection, you need the pro version, even if you have Avat Internet Security. Those antivirus programs aren’t good in detecting spyware. None of them are.

You will have the best protection you can get if you do, you don’t NEED it, but I suggest it. Keep the free version at a minimum for detection/removal, you SHOULD have the free version at a minimum.

If you visit unusual websites on a regular basis, then Yes. If you just use the same commonly known websites, you don’t need it. If anything an Adblocker for your browser will stop most viruses.
