I run Avast anti virus and my system is very slow at start up and at display of sites. It takes ages for the search site to display and all through this the Avast software seems to be updating its virus data base.Nothing happens until the Avast software announces that “you data base has been updated” can this be changed or delayed until later…I can leave and make a coffee before the search site is displayed…!!!

I agree with Hugh. There must be something that’s slowing down your computer. I have Avast on my machine but in only takes less than a minute to boot from scratch. Aside from scanning your computer for spyware using Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, check what else are being run during startup. Use the free CCleaner and run the Startup manager. See what you can turn off without totally disabling your computer:http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/mal…http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner
Yes sure but you can overcome this problem by following these instructions:
>> Defragment the disks
>> Defragment your registry
>> Set up the system for best performance
>> Disinfect the system
>> Speed Up Computer through Reginout
avast anti virus scan your computer while booting, that explains why it might be slow on startup
Yes they do, but not all that much.
You have a different problem. I’d start with a spyware scan, chkdsk and defrag to try finding the source.
It’s true that Avast anti virus slow the PC down. You should uninstall this software and use other antivirus software like Norton or NOD32.
