Have I Created A Security And Maintenance Nightmare?

By antivirus software Posted in: Norton

I just had a computer crash. After five years, I anticipated the end was near. However, I wonder whether I am using good software or creating conflicts or missing maintenance features as I prepare to install on a new computer. Here is what I recently used on my last computer:
Norton
Iobit Malware
System Mechanic
Super AntiSpyware Freeware
Advanced Sytem Care Freeware
System Mechanic seemed to disagree with my other defrag and optimization programs, telling me that I had gigs of misaligned, fragmented files. I tried another registry software download that informed me of more than 1500 errors after System Mechanic had done registry repairs.
Please supply me with a few opinions and any links to reliable sources for recommendations, editor choice awards, studies, comparisons, and potential conflicts. I am quite sure that I was on software overload before my hard drive crashed!
Thank you for ideas and advice.

Never use free registry cleaners. They all will tell you that you have errors just so you will buy them

Are you sure your HDD physically crashed? What you describe sounds more like an Operating System or Software crash. Hardly worth replacing the machine over, unless you want a newer model anyway. Beware of software freebies that you can download. In general, they just don’t work as advertised. As for Registry cleaners, make sure that the program allows user interaction in the process. If you don’t have the option to pick and choose what Registry items you want to delete, change, or re-route, the program may do more harm than good. Yes you are definitely creating conflicts with more than one anti-virus and/or anti-spyware program. Check out Avanquest products if you want the best.
