   No don’t put anything double flair in your ear. You tore the piercing, therefore you need to treat it like a fresh wound. You’d never put a double flair into a fresh piercing because it will get stuck. With your tear, there’s that chance. Plus, I’m not sure I like the idea of teflon on an open wound. Use something single flair or no flair. Give it a while too, at least 3 months at the very minimum. The longer the better. And do treat it like a new piercing. That means sea salt soaks, not changing your jewelry, not fiddling, washing your hands before touching, the whole nine yards, this will prevent infection.
   And tapers aren’t inherently bad, it’s just that with such large sizes, even going up one gauge size is a huge change. Plus you said yourself you didn’t wait long enough and that’s always asking for trouble. But you live and learn. Look into the taping method would you?

   I’d personally wait a bit. Keep it super clean or otherwise it’ll be infected with pus and nasty stuff.
