I Started Getting This Security Shield Warning Message On My Laptop But I Think It Is A Virus…?

By antivirus software Posted in: WebRoot

… I looked it up and I saw a video on YouTube on how to remove it, but I couldn’t and the ‘error’ messages kept popping up asking me to remove all threats and purchase some bogus software. Anywho, I tried and tried and as far as I know I didn’t remove the Security Shield file.
I restarted the computer in safe mode, tried to find the file according to how the video showed, but still nothing. I restarted the computer again in regular mode and the pops up disappeared. However, now there is a blue icon on my desktop that says sdasetup.exe
What is that? I am not going to run it cos I know I didn’t put it there. Anyone, help! ! ! Do I have two problems now or just one???
I have this crappy antivirus program that came with the computer when I got it (damn Best Buy) called WebRoot Security Anywhere. I did several scans and the thing would not detect any virus even when the Security Shield pops ups kept coming up.
Help, anyone? Thank you!

Yes, you are absolutely correct. Security Shield is a virus. To be more specific, this is a fake anti-spyware tool that pretends to be legit. But you must not trust it. Remove it using reliable anti-virus. You may download Malwarebytes or Superantispyware, these programs have free options to delete viruses. If you have problems downloading or running them on your infected system then please read these additional instructions.

It’s not a virus but a spyware. That’s why none of those antivirus programs can detect that rogue “Security Shield”. You will need a spyware remover like Malwarebytes Anti-Malware:http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/mal…
However, there are other steps that you need to do aside from scanning with MBAM. For a more detailed removal instructions, follow this link:http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-re…

that is rogue fake antivirus(virus) and it will make your pc hell
but don’t worry i’ll tell you how to remove it
1.you’ve to end its process my finding it on task manager or by installing comodo killswitch
2.-then you’ve to install latest version of free malwarebytes
3.update it and perform your os drive scan.
then your problem will get solved but if you want to be secure in future then you’ve to put paid antivirus like Eset Nod32 in your pc.

Do a system restore. type system restore into the search bar on your start menu. then choose a time before you got the virus to restore to. you wont lose any files but the virus will be gone.
You should use AVG antivirus. its free and works really well. also download malwarebytes to remove any viruses you may get in the future.

Make sure you use updated anti-spyware program that has all virus fixes and can find all infected files for you. In addition, use the latest, 2012 versions that have been updated according to security shield malware.
