Here is what you can do to see if it’s a malware issue.
1. Run rkill, it’s a small executable, no need to install. Read the description to see why you should run it.http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download…
2. After rkill has run successfully, install, and run a full scan with MBAM, it’s free:http://www.techspot.com/downloads/4716-m…
After the MBAM scan, and deleting everything it found, you should now be able to update norton (if it was malware related) update, and run a full scan with norton.
If you still have problems updating norton, I suggest you go to nortons forum/help center, and ask them.http://us.norton.com/support/
