By antivirus software Posted in: McaFee

I have avast! free anti virus and just now i got MCAfee with Adobe flash player, should i keep both?
If i keep both, are there any consequences?

only probably is it will probably slow down your computer a bit and there is little to no reason to have 2 antivires so keep one and ditch the other

You shouldn’t run two anti-virus programs together. It creates problems.
Apart from slowing your computer down by running both at the same time, the anti-virus definitions they use could be detected as virus by the other AV program. One could find the virus vault of the other. Both could find a virus on your computer and that will lead to problems when both try to get rid of it.
You could always get lucky like Alonso but a lot of anti-virus programs won’t even install themselves if they detect another anti-virus program on your system.

Sometimes, the two antivirusses can conflict and stuff, but it isn’t anything major. But if you choose to only keep one, I would take Avast, I use it currently, and I haven’t seen anything annoying. Sometimes a pop-up appers in the bottom of the screen, but it is easily closed, and won’t interrupt anything. I think it happens every time you open the computer.
    Hope I helped :)

    Think like this:
Antivirus + antivirus = No antivirus
If you run two antivirus in your pc they will no work…
Three months ago I downloaded MACfee for adove and at the same time I had kaspersky.
Then I downloaded a program my pc got a virus and the two antivirus did not make any thing, they shoutdown each other !

It depends on the Antiviral programs you are using.
Some will detect the others virus definitions as virus on your computer.
So you need make sure that they are compatible.
I have heard that Norton is bad about doing that.

You shouldn’t use more than one antivirus program at a time. Just keep Avast. However, you may add another scanner like Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. They can work harmoniously as MBAM is not an antivirus. It’s just an antispyware but works well in detecting spyware.

There ate none, but you juat have 2anti viruses running at the same.time, which takes up a lot of memory,.thus slowing down your computer

I’d drop McAfee and just keep the Avast
