I ask because I’ve had bad experiences with MacAffee and Norton antivirus before, especially MacAffe, they are horrible… I had a friend reccomend Webroot, but my computer came with Kaspersky so I figured I’d ask before I install it. I don’t want it to pop up and tell me I have 50 infections or try to get me to buy anything additional. I would be better off without it in that case. I don’t go downloading porn and I only use trusted websites like facebook, youtube etc.
Anyone out there have experience with Kaspersky?

Kaspersky is good, but it also depends on which one. The Kaspersky Pure is the way to go. This is their best performing antivirus product at the moment. According to many independent tests, their other real time security products are not quite up to scratch when compared with the other commercial AV’s this year.
If youre PC came with it, may aswell keep it. You can always change it easily enough if you arent happy when youre subscription expires….or before if its that bad. Please dont ever think that because you only go on trusted websites like facebook and youtube that you are safe….those are probably the most targeted sites. Youre never better off without protection no matter what you do. Sadly, if you are online, you are at risk. They dont tell you that you have infections if you dont, so dont ignore these things either. As annoying as they are, trust me, its alot more annoying when you have an infection. You can always lower the heuristics if you feel its being too sensitive.
Actually @Casca Webroot is actually very good. I have used them all in the last few years and was pleasantly surprised by Webroot…..I wish people would stop commenting like this when they probably have never even used it. If you havent used something, just dont comment….dont make sh!t up. Im confident that you havent used it cause if you had, you wouldnt be saying that….if you knew what you were talking about that is. On top of that it is the fact that its blitzing alot of the others out of the water in alot of the independent tests out there…..
Its absolutely not true that Free ones are useless. Avast and Avira both have better detection rates than some of the commercial AV’s. Another one that doesnt know what he is on about. Microsoft security essentials is meant to be good now too.
I do advise on getting Malwarebytes also and running a scan once a week. If you have a commercial AV, the free version of MBAM is fine…..as long as you remember to scan with it
Don’t get webroot, it is down there with crapafee. Kaspersky is a very good AV, always tests at the top on comparisons, norton changes in it’s tests, the only other AV that always test’s very high is Bitdefender, it usually edges out Kaspersky, but only by a narrow margin.
I also sugest you have MBAM, it is a very good compliment to an AV. You should at a minimum have the free version, but I suggest you purchase it, it’s only 25 dollars for a lifetime license.http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/mal…
Grey button for the free, and decline the free trial, or you will have to reinstall it after 30 days.
yeah latest version of kaspersky antivirus 2012 is very good, mostly all paid antiviruses are good i don’t trust on free ones.
