My computer has a meter that shows the percentage of RAM memory in use.
Previously I think the percentage was much lower most of the time.
All I ever have open on my computer is a Web Browser and a Word Processor document.
The computer does everything more slowly now, and often gets “frozen.” Before, it was always fast and never got frozen.
What happened?
Do I have trojans, malware, viruses running in the background that are using up so much RAM memory?
I have McAfee security on my computer. I also run Spybot Search and Destroy and Windows Defender. They don’t find anything bad.
What should I do.
I don’t want to take my computer to a repair shop, because I don’t trust those guys.
Are there trustworthy downloadable programs that will find and eliminate invasive, harmful program that has gotten onto my computer.
THANK YOU.

Run MalwareBytes Antimalware. It’s free and its basically a virus removal tool. After installing, make sure to update it, as it will ask you (doesn’t take long). Run a full system scan, scanning all of your drives. Don’t delete any viruses that it finds, just let it quarantine them.
everyone is suggesting malware/virus which is possible but unlikely with the protection you have.
have you looked in task manager to see what is using the memory and how much memory you have.
If you have two cards of memory then you may have one developed a fault and not being recognised by the system
Most likely ita a virus there is a program called spybot (free download from cnet) and if you have one it will remove them for free too! I think its worth a shot!!!
