Lawyers: Looking For A Good Book To Start Reading That Will Serve As Somewhat Of A “intro To Law” – Any Ideas?

okay.. so i’m about to get into law school and i’m interested in reading something that could serve as a primer… kind of like leafing through “gray’s anatomy” would for medicine; or “norton’s concise anthology” would for a musician. I fully realize that i will not be getting an education or even very much of a head-start by reading something of this sort, but i’m interested in simply exploring. thank you.

Look for the “Nutshell” series on various topics of law. Start with the basics, such as civil procedure, contracts, criminal law, or property.
“One L” by Scott Turow is a novel about the first year of law school told from a student’s perspective. You might want to read that too.
Even more importantly; do some research about the availability of jobs for new lawyers just graduating from law school.
