Okay need a quick answer
here is the situation
I got a rescue female betta, named Sarah. she’s been healing up very very well. BUT, for her age she should be 1-1.5 inches, and she is a lot smaller than that. I’m going to the pet store, to get the other female (who is even SMALLER than her).
I don’t want to feed flakes, becasue they are not very good nutrition or protein wise. I have pellets, but they are too big for these little bettas. Plus, they need more fat/protein content then the pellets have. and I do not want to feed them the freeze-dried bloodworms as their main staple.
These girls are maybe the size of a 2 month old betta, and they are about 6 months.
I have fed mealworms to my other bettas before (chopped head off, and de-shelled) with no problems.
Any suggestions for live/frozen foods for bettas, that are high in protein for these gals?

My fish are Fed live brine shrimp ,Daphina and Krill and thrive on those .
Look for a mail order culture of microworms. Follow the instructions. Do not use these or blood worms as a steady diet. They are too fatty and rich for a single source diet. Aquabid would be a source for worm cultures. If you can find frozen mosquito larvae that would be the ideal food. In warm weather you can catch live larvae in clean water pails and feed them live and freeze the excess for winter. Do some research into live foods for Bettas and other Anabantidae.
Just want to add something. Garlic is good preventative for parasites. So if you feed with live food sometimes it good pre soak it in garlic juice.
I don’t feed with live food i just read it on bettafish.com someone wrote about it.
They love blood worm!! and you can buy them frozen or none frozen! Your best bet is unfrozen then u can deside how much you feed them ect! my fish love frozen blood worm and they all strong n healthy
