I have a 6 week old mouse. (the store told me she was a rat.) Now i can usually tell except i am living in a different country and i don’t know the language. So the man in the store said Fancy Rat is called Panda Mouse (plus it took 20 google searches to find what the heck a fancy rat was since they didn’t know english), so i ordered one and bought the one they had ordered for me to see if it was what i wanted. Figuring that if i ordered Rat and this wasn’t Rat. i couldn’t get a rat anyway plus, she was too cute, cheaper than i thought, healthy and i had thought about mice anyway. But now i have her at home and she isn’t using her water bottle. she goes to the base instead of the spout and when she gets to the spout she can’t get anything out. what can I do for her? and what is she really? she is about 2 inches ling without the tail. and looks like this, but smallerhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z8gU1WANf…

You can try letting the bottle drip a little so she know that is where the water comes from or offer her a bowl of water. If you do a bowl make sure she cant’t tip it and that you check on it to make sure she has water avalible to her.
name her Pansie
and shes what i call “a foreign mini mouse” haha, but leave the water bottle in, you may want to look for a mini water bottle with an extra small spout, and add a bowl with some water in it, until then, thats about all you can do, if she starts getting dehydrated, let her drink water from a dropper by holding it for her and dont force it see if she’ll drink it herself, if she can’t, then give it to her yourself.
hope i helped
I have a rat who is very small for a rat, but too bog for a mouse. Anyway, my “mutant mouse rat” had trouble drinking from her water bottle at first too. Somehow, she would always end up clogging it up. We squeezed the bottle near his mouth and he eventually got it. We also had to try a couple different kinds of sipper tubes to see what he liked best. We also keep 2 bottles up in case one of them gets clogged or has an air bubble in it. You could use a water dish, but rats and mice make messes with it. They can tip over or be used as a bathroom, so I wouldn’t advse it.
