The romance isn’t the main idea of the story. It’s a Sci-Fi about a group of kids making a movie in the summer of ’75.
It’s 1975. Josh Mazer is late for a video shooting. He grabs his camera and runs down town to the abandoned field behind the Boswell railroad tracks. As he sets up his camera he sees Mel. Josh can’t help but fall head over heals for her & he feel his palms getting sweaty. After the taping, Josh puts his camera in Chris’s car. He sees Mel & puts his hands in his pockets,
“Hey…”
“Hey.” replies Mel.
“Y-You did really good out there.”
Mel giggles & puts her hair behind her ear, “Thanks. You too.” Mel waves to Josh & walks away. Josh waves back. Chris drives Josh & Riley down to Sierra Ave. & Mel pokes her head out the window.
“Bye, Josh.”
“Ugh–Bye…” Riley nudges his shoulder,
“She knows you,” he says.
The next night Josh, Riley, Mel, Dee & Cary take a night on the town. As they venture into the field where they filmed the day before they hear a rustle in the weeds. Josh goes to investigate but he gets to close! A dark figure jumps out at Josh & the 5 run to Mel’s grandpa’s car but the creature is to fast. The 5 jump the gate and climb in the car but the creature follows them and tips the car over, letting it drag 20 yards on its side. The next morning, Josh looks in the mirror & finds a huge scratch on his face where the creature got him. Soon after, Josh notices his hair is falling out, his eyes are changing color, his finger nails & skin is peeling & and he can hear strange whispers in his head! Every night, Josh has dreams of the creature but one night he wakes up from his nightmare to find Mel knocking on his window.
“Josh! Is your dad here?” Josh shakes his head. Josh’s dad is a sheriff & works the night shift.
“Good, I’m scared, Josh.”
For hours until dawn the 2 talk until Mel tells Josh good-bye; Mel hugs Josh. About a week later, Dee quits making the movie so Josh takes in after him. As him & Mel are acting it out she says,
“I’m afraid… Afraid, for you.” Josh hears whispers & his head starts spinning faster & faster. He passes out. Minutes later he revives & the 3 ask him questions. “What? Is there stuff on my face?” asks Josh.
Josh & Mel form a brother-sister relationship.
“You know, Josh. You’re not like the rest of the guys here. You’re…unique.”
Josh laughed.
“I’m serious! I mean, all they want is 1 thing.” Mel stops & looks down & so does Josh. Josh hears the whispers in his head again. He tells Mel he has to go & runs home & pukes up black stuff. That night, Josh has a nightmare about the creature. It was like books and books full of info cluttered into his brain. Josh has a seizure & is taken to the ER.
Sorry for all the errors. I’m tired. This is just my quick way of outlining the story, so don’t say my sentences are choppy or whatever… I know! What should happen in the end? I want the ending to leave people feeling happy for Josh. Not make them sad. Thanks!
