Pc Was Infected, Lots Of Things Got Removed?

By antivirus software Posted in: AVAST

2 hours ago, my PC got infected or had a virus.
Suddenly, all the icons on my desktop dissapeared and once I tried to access them through the computer, all the maps were empty.
I just did a system restore, most of the files are back, however, the majority are still gone. Such as music, videos etc..
This is quite weird though, cause I had avast antivirus running when it got infected, and also used malware scanner to remove trojans.
Is there any way I can get those files back again?
(PS: I only went back 2 days when i used the system restore).

All your files are still there, they have not been deleted. They have had their properties changed to make them hidden.
Open Folder Options, click on the view tab and check the box to show hidden files and click apply.
Then right click on one of your folders (like music) that has the hidden files and select properties. If hidden is unchecked, check it and click apply. Now uncheck the box for hidden and click apply. Windows will ask if you want to apply the change to all files and subfolders in the folder. Say yes.
After you’ve changed you files back to normal view you can go back to folder options and restore the default settings for view.

Well Avast Or Any Other can not protect you from yourself.
Mostly all Viruses/Malware are caused/Allowed by the user.
Of course they have to trick you or something but its true.
    Deleted files are usually recoverable…http://www.raymond.cc/blog/archives/2008…

I agree with Pepper. Deleted files are not deleted completely off your hard drive. They are just kept by windows until a file overwrites them. Here’s a file recovery tool to get them back.
    Recuva: http://www.piriform.com/recuva
NOTE: you might not get all the files back as some of them might be overwritten by others.

look up a disk recovery software
chances are those files are still on your hard drive somewhere
