Random Windows Popping Up And Randomly Redirected Webpages, What Does This Mean?

By antivirus software Posted in: McaFee

Webpages randomly redirected to yahoo website, what does this mean? An hour ago I was forced to restart my computer several times because windows kept rapidly popping up. Help?
Also if it matters I have McAfee for antivirus and I’ve scanned for viruses three times already.

This is a redirect virus. There are many like it, and not all are easily detectable. Because McAfee is popular, virus programers try to code their viruses to be undetected by it (as is the case with Norton). go to http://www.bleepingcomputers.com and download combofix.exe
This is what we use to remove viruses off of customer’s computers.

I recommend installing “Malware-Bytes Anti-virus” McAfee uses signatures to detect viruses (Like all anti-virus programs) and it might not be picking the virus up in it’s database. Malware-Bytes is free and it rated an excellent anti-virus/malware.
Once installed, Boot into safe mode (Keep hitting F8 on boot) and do a “Full computer scan”
    Hopefully this should help :)

Typical symptom of a malware infection. Boot in safe mode with networking. Run these two:http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download…http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/mal…
Wait for RKill to give you a report before updating and doing a full scan with MBAM.
