im trying to download kaspersky and its telling me that it cant install properly as avast 5 is blocking it, i cant find this anywhere on my laptop, so how can i unistall it ?

Avast v5 is one of the best free antiviruses available, but if you want to remove it to install Kaspersky, use the Avast Uninstall Utility.

Problem is that you cannot have two antivirus programs on your computer running at the same time. If you want to install kaspersky, you need to uninstall avast 5 first. You didn’t told us what OS are you using, but it generaly goes like this:
Click Start>Control Panel> Add/Remove Programs
there you will see a list of all programs installed on your computer, find Avast and remove it.
You have not properly uninstalled Avast…and contrary to the other persons comment about Avast being no good…you have no idea what your talking about…
To remove Avast properly….
Start > Search > all files and folders including hidden ones….use the search Terms Antivirus, Avast, Alwil….and delete anything that is connected to Avast 5….if you find you cannot delete the Avast 5 off your computer…you did not disable it prior to uninstalling it…so the protection module file remains….blocking all AV downloads…
If your removal is successfull….then you should be able to download Kaspersky….if not your going to have to use the removal tool at the Avast Home page site….http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility
Avast 5 is a crap anti virus which shows fake virus alerts for user satisfaction and there is no virus.
but the interesting part is the police siren it gives when a virus is found… crappppp !!
If u have a problem installing kaspersky
go to the control pannel
Add remove programs
uninstall avast 5.
then restart ur system.. download or install the previously downloaded .exe file of kaspersky.
hope this resolves ur issue
have you tried lookin 4 it in Search from the Start menu? y not not just type in avast?
