After many years of using free A/V and anti malware I some months ago installed a Norton trial Internet security 2012 on my daughters and granddaughters computers.I always felt Norton was a huge resource hog but the latest version was vastly improved. So much so that after three months I have installed it on my computer which seems considerably more responsive. My choice now until something better comes along.

Hello, There both very light on system resources and have little to no impact on system performance. It depends if you want to pay money for Norton. Microsoft Security Essentials is free. Norton has a better detection and removal rating too. Norton also has more features. If you have Comcast/Xfinity you can download Norton for free off the comcast website.

Which one you chose really depends on your internet habits. Do you really need a powerful all intrusive program like norton? Do you get a lot of malware, or do you rarely get it now? If you are the kind of person that gets malware on a regular basis, then get norton, but if you rarely get malware, use the right browser(s), and add-ons, and common sense on the web, then save your money, and use something free, because it won’t matter for you to have a monster like norton.

Personally I would not use Norton even if it were free, Over 20 years of being a computer tech, I have come across more problems with Norton that any other AV. I have tried Microsoft security essentials
    and like it a lot.
You may find that some sites that advertise a certain brand or product as being the best, are actually ran by or sponsored by the company of the product said!

mse is ok for being free, but norton is alot better if you can afford it. But if you want a better free antivirus, this years avg is ranked number 1.

Microsoft Security Essential would be good cuz Windows is made by Microsoft so Microsoft should know what’s best for Windows xD, but Norton is good too.. I would take Norton
