What Should I Do When My Computer Is Low On Memory?

By antivirus software Posted in: AVG

Well my comp is probably 5 years old now and it has gone through a lot and lately I ran short on space on my “Recovery (C:)” but all I have is Mozilla, AVG anti virus and AIM (since I had to reboot my comp) so I’m not sure what I can do to free up space. Also would anything bad happen from having almost no space left?

try doing a disk clean up that should free up some space. the only thing that will happen from little HDD space is the computer will run slow. To use te disc clean up program you need to click start then go to all programs, accessories, system tools, and look for disk clean up. once you select the drive you want to clean ( C: drive in most cases) the program will prompt you on what you want cleaned up. I check off everything the total amount of space that can be clean will be displayed at the bottom right side of the window. Click on the OK button. since you have probably never done this before your computer will take a while to get rid of all the unnecessary clutter. Hope this helps

5 years is a long time and since Black Friday is almost 2 months away I would suggest that you buy a good computer at a great price. If you don’t want to buy a computer, then just run the recovery disk so everything completely clears out of your computer and just reinstall Firefox, AVG, and AIM. And yes your computer might crash if you almost have no space left. So you can either buy a new hard drive, a new computer, or just run the recovery disk.
    Hope this helps!

Ok, buy an external hard drive and transfer all your pics, files and documents. Then format your hard drive and reinstall the os.
Or you could turn off and on your system recovery. That´ll erase everything in your recovery section and start from scratch.
However, if your running low on ram stop visiting facebook and related programs. And don´t use Opera.

you can buy a external hard drive it plugs in to your computer through usb they range from $100- $500 the $100 should be just fine. and some applications might fail but most likely not.
