AVG purely because it’s been recognised as the most comprehensive AV suite 2011.
It offers email protection, previews of web pages, rootkit detection, real-time scanning, and many other features that Avira and Avast lack
Avast is also good but it seems to drain alot of system resources, particularly when scanning or updating.
Avira would probably come out bottom since Avira’s detection rate is quoted to be higher than Avast’s but is inaccurate due to the fact that they cite the detection rate of the Pro (paid) version rather than the free one.

Out of those AVG because Avira and Avast suck. AVG will catch more stuff than those, they’re more on top of things when new viruses come out
I personally use Microsoft Security Essentials, AVG being my second favorite. In my opinion, and in the opinion of all the people I know that have a career in computers and build computers, that’s the best and it’s free. I have used all of those programs before, I’m not just bashing Avira and Avast without knowing what they are.
But out of those, AVG, definitely.

avira, avast or comodo all good (not just my opinion) AVG USED to be a leader but is now behind the others and is a resource hog , their paid version is as good as the others which are all free

Avira.
Avira, although being free, protects from most of viruses.
